- 1 Reproduce the fault The complaint gets reproduced at the appliance before anything is opened. What the unit was doing when it stopped — mid-cycle, at ignition, on power-up — narrows the list faster than any part swap.
- 2 Measure the supply Both legs under load at the appliance, and gas pressure at the manifold rather than at the meter. A control being starved by an upstream fault will kill its replacement too.
- 3 One-shot devices Thermal fuses and limits do not reset. An opened fuse lets a unit power up and behave normally right until heat is demanded, which is what sends people straight to the board.
- 4 Sensors, then wiring Probes read as resistance, so they get measured against their curve rather than swapped, and the harness gets checked at the connectors, where heat cycling and vibration actually land.
- 5 Mechanical and airflow Caps seated on their rings, orifices matched to the fuel the house runs, electrode gaps, blower wheels, hinges and door seals. A large share of calls finish at this step.
- 6 The board, last Only once supply, fuses, sensors and mechanics are clear. It is the most expensive assumption on the list and the least often correct, and it is never ordered before the estimate is in writing.
The sequence exists because the expensive parts sit at the end of it. A board condemned before the supply has been measured under load gets replaced twice, and a sensor swapped instead of measured tells you nothing about the harness feeding it. Where the honest answer is that the fault is outside this shop's scope — a unit still inside the manufacturer's warranty, or a repair that needs a cabinet maker before it needs a technician — that gets said at step one rather than after a part has been ordered.

- No. Nobody at the factory sent us, appointed us or vets us, and we hold no manufacturer programme of any kind. We repair Wolf cooking equipment and we use the brand name only to identify the appliances we work on. If your unit is still inside the manufacturer's warranty period, call Wolf first — a factory-covered repair should cost you nothing. - No. Wolf cooking equipment only — ranges, rangetops, cooktops, wall ovens, convection steam ovens, speed ovens, warming drawers, outdoor grills and ventilation. Staying with one manufacturer is why the right part is usually already on the van.
- Do you work on heating or air conditioning?
- No. This is a built-in kitchen shop: Wolf cooking equipment and the ventilation over it. Furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, condensers, thermostats and the house duct system are an HVAC trade, and a call about one gets told so on the phone rather than booked. The only duct here runs from a kitchen hood to its cap.
